Hartland, Wisconsin (May 12th, 2021) – Mother Nature prevented B Squared Motorsports “notebook building” trip to the famed Knoxville Raceway on May 8th with a cancellation due to weather. The team swapped equipment and headed North to Cedar Lake Speedway (Richmond, WI) to race with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints and defend their season opening win at Beaver Dam Raceway with the series.
Bill Balog and the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B jumped out to an early lead in their heat race and despite dropping a cylinder, they were able to pick up a heat race win. The win qualified the Howard Law, CK Contractors, Buesser Concrete Wisecup Siding, Lein Acres #17B for the A-Main and placed the ten-time IRA champ in the Dash Redraw. The team was up against the clock to complete an engine change in time to make the Dash. Despite their best efforts they were not able to get heat in the replacement engine prior to the start and did not make the call for the Dash.
Following the engine change, Bill and the team started the 30-lap feature event in the tenth position. After persevering and advancing to the 5th position, he was forced to retire early, succumbing to a blown seal in the power steering box and pulling to the infield with ten laps remaining.
“We’ve been making a lot of progress with a new set up and we continued to try some things with the package, we weren’t good enough. We’ve raced at Cedar Lake Speedway quite a bit over the years and we could have gone with a more proven set up but we’re committed to keep learning and getting better for the long haul of the All Star Circuit of Champions season.” said Bill Balog, the winningest driver in IRA Sprint Car history. “I’m proud of our guys, we tried some new things, battled against a motor change and were running in the top 5 before we had to pull off.”

Upcoming Racing Schedule
Bill Balog and B Squared Motorsports return their attention to the FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 race series this weekend with back-to-back visits to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI for the $8,500 to win Mace Thomas Classic and the $8,000 to win event at the Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Joliet, IL. The weekend represents a rare occasion in Bill Balog’s 2021 All Star Circuit of Champions rookie season where he has seat time at both tracks. The North Pole Nightmare has visited the I-96 Speedway with the World of Outlaws in 2015 and logged his 100th Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Car Series feature win in the Rhine Auto #17B at Route 66 in 2015.
“We had a great night winning our 100th IRA A-Main that night at Route 66. We had no brakes in the car throughout the feature and were able to hold on for the victory. It was a pretty cool experience, I’m looking forward to going back with the All Star Circuit of Champions.” said Balog, driver of the Howard Law #17B sprint car.
