Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (May 11, 2021) – Tucker Boulton has improved his feature finish during each of his three career 360ci winged sprint car starts at his home track of Riverside International Speedway, including back-to-back top 10s during the last two weekends.

Boulton posted a 10th-place result on May 1 during the Spring Fling Special before taking another step forward last Saturday when he picked up a seventh-place finish in the inaugural Melvin Holcomb Classic.

“We’ve been working really hard to get this car going right and to get comfortable in it,” he said. “I think we’re at a point where we can take the car somewhere else and be competitive. We have figured out a good base.”

Boulton is gaining confidence at the same rate as his experience level is growing during his first season behind the wheel of a 360 sprint car. One of the biggest learning moments came on May 1 when Boulton spent part of the main event following veteran and eventual race winner Derek Hagar.

“I learned it’s not a Sunday cruise if you’re leading a race,” he said. “I figured if you were that good to lead than it’d be easy, but once I got lapped and was following the leader he was fighting his car, too. The track was rough and throwing us around. I learned from him. I was disappointed where we finished, but at the end of the night I found a new confidence with the car and myself.”

Boulton, who had placed fourth in a heat race earlier in the night, held on for his first career top 10 at Riverside International Speedway.

The return to the bullring last Saturday was much anticipated for Boulton, who advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race before scoring the seventh-place result in the A Main.

“I went into this past weekend with a lot more confidence than previous,” he said. “I was more confident getting up on the wall, bouncing though the ruts. I felt more comfortable. It was a follow-the-leader type of track up on the wall. I felt faster than a couple of guys in front of me and was throwing some bombs. It was back and forth with them so that was fun.”

Boulton plans on making his 305ci winged sprint car season debut this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway before he graduates from high school next Monday.
