Inside Line Promotions – SEDALIA, Mo. (May 11, 2021) – Mother Nature kept Gunner Ramey away from the race track last weekend as both Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., and Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, fell victim to rainouts.

“It’s a bummer we couldn’t be on the track last weekend, but some things you can’t control and getting rained out is one of them, especially so early in the season,” Ramey said.

Despite the rain, the 18-year-old’s spirits were not dampened. He used the weekend as an opportunity to prepare for Lake Ozark Speedway, where he will do battle this Saturday night with the POWRi Ozark Winged 360 Sprints.

The Terry Doogs Racing driver said Lake Ozark Speedway is where he feels the most comfortable behind the wheel of a sprint car as it is also the track where he has turned the most laps in a sprint car.

“I’ve made a lot of laps here in the past and we always seem to unload pretty good, which is a definite confidence booster throughout the night,” he said. “If we can run consistent laps in the feature and string them all together we have an opportunity to come out of there with a solid top-five run.”

Ramey has noted a tangible difference in his growth as a sprint car driver, which has aided him in becoming more comfortable from the cockpit of his 360ci sprint car through the first five races of the season.

“I’ve gotten a much better feel in the car and I’m able to drive the car straighter because of it,” he said. “I’ve also gotten to know what helps keep the car stable and the minor adjustments that go with that.”

Ramey has made two starts at Lake Ozark Speedway this season highlighted by an eighth-place finish.
