Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 10, 2021) – David Gravel produced an efficient weekend during the #LetsRaceTwo doubleheader hosted by Eldora Speedway.

The Big Game Motorsports driver scored a top five during the opener before capping the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event with his series-best 18th top 10 in 20 races.

“Speed has not been lacking,” Gravel said. “To be quick time both nights shows the big track speed we have.”

Gravel established quick time for both programs, with Friday’s race postponed until Saturday afternoon because of a wet track.

“We came in the next day and the track got really slick,” he said. “We won our heat race and drew the No. 5 for the dash. I fell back a little and charged back to fourth. I felt pretty good there. Then in the A Main it was super slick and there wasn’t a lot of wing speed. We were all right and came home fourth.”

Gravel’s fourth-place finish was his 10th top five of the season during World of Outlaws competition.

The event concluded Saturday evening with a full program and once again Gravel set quick time during qualifying.

“We drew a decent pill in the middle of the field and they did three at a time in qualifying,” he said. “We were able to go quick time again and we got the job done in the heat.”

Gravel won a heat race to again make the dash. A fifth-place result lined him up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“Someone got sideways in front of me on the start so I fell back and settled into eighth,” he said. “On a double-file restart I passed some guys to get to fourth. Then a caution came out and we restarted on the outside again. A couple of guys used me up and I fell back to 10th. We settled in and got to seventh. We were okay in the feature. I felt like all the guys around me were the same speed.”

Gravel’s seventh-place showing moved him within 62 points of the leader in the championship standings.

“It was a solid weekend,” he said. “You’d like to get on the podium or challenge for a win, but it was solid in the grand scheme of things. If we keep qualifying good and keep doing this we’ll figure it out most nights.”

A trio of races in Pennsylvania fill this week’s schedule with races on Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown for the Gettysburg Clash presented by Drydene and Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg for the Morgan Cup on tap.

“I’m really excited for Pennsylvania,” Gravel said. “Lincoln and Williams Grove are two great tracks for me. I head in there with a lot of confidence and a lot of speed. Cody (Jacobs) has been really successful at both tracks as well so we’re looking forward to this week.”
