JONESTOWN, Pa. (May 10, 2021) - Jonestown, Pennsylvania’s Brock Zearfoss has truly perfected the art of perseverance in 2021, proving to the open wheel world once again that hardships can be overcome and poor luck can be put to the wayside. Case in point would be Zearfoss’ performance during Saturday’s #LetsRaceTwo doubleheader at Eldora Speedway, ultimately exchanging a “DNF” result during the Saturday afternoon program, caught in a mishap while battling for a top-ten finish, for a hard-fought rally from 25th to finish 12th during the evening finale. Friday’s program was actually postponed to Saturday after weather interfered for most of the day.
Zearfoss, driver of the Brock Zearfoss Racing, Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill, Heavy Equipment, Loaders & Parts Inc., C&D Rigging Inc., Meckley's Limestone Products, Berkebile Oil Company, Klick Lewis Cars, J.P. Adamsky Trucking, X-1 Race Cars, Simpson Racing Products, KX3 Racewear, BK Titanium, Blud Lubricants, AL Driveline, Bruce’s Speed Shop, RV 4 Wheel Drive and Performance Automotive, 87 Speed, Walker Performance Filtration, Bell Helmets, No. 3Z sprint car, utilized a provisional to make Saturday’s finale grid, forced to do so after failing to record a time during time trials, followed by a ninth-place score during his respective heat race. The “Jonestown Jet” was close to making it out of the Last Chance Showdown on his own, but his rally from 14th to sixth was two spots short of a transfer spot.
“It can be frustrating to put yourself in those positions, but to bounce back like that for a strong run makes things better. We would have been happier with two solid finishes, but our team proved once again that we can recover. I owe it all to my team,” Zearfoss said, who is currently ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings. “I think we're all ready to be home for a while. We get to work out of our own shop the next few weeks and I’m confident that will give us the chance to kinda hit the ‘reset’ button. I’m excited to race close to home. It should be a fun week.”
Brock Zearfoss and Brock Zearfoss Racing will continue their quest toward World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year honors with a four-day, three-race campaign through the Keystone State, set to invade the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday, May 12, followed by the two-day Morgan Cup at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday, May 14-15. Saturday’s Morgan Cup finale will award a $15,000 top prize.
Zearfoss is a former World of Outlaws winner at Williams Grove, claiming opening night of the Summer Nationals in 2017.
“We’d like to repeat that,” Zearfoss said of his prior World of Outlaws win. “It’s a feeling like no other to win a World of Outlaws race, especially at home. I’m ready to do that again.”
