Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 4, 2021) – Gunner Ramey tallied his first career top-10 finish at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night.

It was the kind of run the 18-year-old was looking for during his second trip to ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World.’

After timing in eighth on the speed chart with a time of 16.533 seconds, Ramey lined up fourth in his heat race and gained a position to finish third. The driver of the Terry Doogs Racing No. 21 winged sprint began the night’s A Main in the seventh position and battled inside the top 10 throughout the 18-lap feature. Ramey finished in the 10th position with a clean run and equally as important, more seat time for the young driver.

“We definitely got better since the last time we were here a couple weeks ago,” he said. “I’m continuing to get more comfortable in the race car and learn where I can make time and also what adjustments the car needs as the night goes on.

“The car felt so much more stable on Saturday night. I found it was easier to keep the car planted and easier to keep it straight. We’re definitely headed in the right direction with the adjustments we’ve made over the past couple weeks and here at Knoxville in particular.”

Ramey is preparing to run a weekly show at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., this Saturday.

“It’s the place where I have the most laps in a sprint car and our car is always good when we unload,” he said.

In Ramey’s two starts at Lake Ozark Speedway this season he has finishes of eighth and 13th.

If Lake Ozark Speedway is forced to cancel because of rain, Ramey said he plans to travel north to Knoxville Raceway to compete in the weekly 360ci winged sprint show.

“We have a little bit of momentum going on at Knoxville and it would be nice to go back there on back-to-back weekends to continue that momentum,” he said.
