Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (May 4, 2021) – Frank Flud achieved a special feat last Saturday at Port City Raceway, where he won a pair of features to give him three victories on the weekend and 11 this season.

His first triumph of the night was win No. 145 on his D1 chassis No. 145.

“That car is pretty special to me,” he said. “Almost half my D1 wins have been in that car.”

Flud was a winner during both nights of competition last weekend beginning on Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., where he raced with the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division.

Flud won a Stock Non-Wing heat race and was in contention for a trip to Victory Lane in the feature.

“I was running second about four laps in when we had a mechanical failure and an axle break,” he said. “When it broke I got into the wall, but nothing major. It ended the night in that class and we had to scramble to get it changed for the Winged ‘A’ Class feature. We had to change a bunch of stuff on the rear end. As they were saying last call over the PA system we were putting the car on the ground and I was buckling up as we pushed to staging. We were very fortunate to get back out after getting everything switched over from the non-wing race.”

Flud made the most of the situation by hustling from sixth to win the Winged ‘A’ Class A Main.

“In three or four laps I was able to go where I needed to and set sail,” he said. “I clicked off 20 laps as best as I could.”

Flud tackled a trio of classes on Saturday at Port City Raceway, where he capitalized on a late-race collision between two drivers in front of him to rocket from third to the Stock Non-Wing win.

“I was kind of lucky,” he said. “We hung on for dear life. I missed the setup pretty bad. Starting up front was fortunate for us. We were able to be consistent enough throughout the feature. Whenever the leader and second place were battling for the lead and got together I was able to take the lead with a couple of laps to go and hang on.”

Prior to that Flud had placed second in the Outlaw main event and he won the Winged ‘A’ Class feature from the pole.

“I was able to get the jump on the start and the car seemed to work flawlessly,” he said. “I tried to make 25 good laps. We got into some traffic and I was able to work through it. We had a late-race yellow and I was able to set sail after that.”

Flud is slated to return to Port City Raceway this Thursday through Saturday for the 5th annual Oil Capital Clash and 4th annual Terry Walker Memorial with the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division.
