Inside Line Promotions – ODESSA, Mo. (May 3, 2021) – Bryant Paver Motorsports shifted gears late last week when the team elected to run a pick-and-choose schedule for the remainder of the 2021 season rather than continue to chase Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour points.

“It was a business decision of how we can make the team better with racing more,” driver Garet Williamson said. “We’re a young team and getting our feet wet in the 410 deal. At the end of the day we want to do more 410 racing. I ran three times this weekend within three hours of the shop and could have run a fourth race on Sunday at Double X Speedway if it didn’t rain out so that made more sense than going to Pennsylvania for what ended up being one race.”

Williamson raced with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series three times last weekend, making his debut at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., on Thursday before a first-ever trip to I-70 Motorsports Park on Friday and Saturday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.

The action began with Williamson qualifying 16th quickest on Thursday. He then placed seventh in a heat race and fourth in the Last Chance Showdown to advance into the main event, marking his first career feature start with the World of Outlaws.

“That’s the best qualifying effort with the Outlaws and I feel we could have been better,” he said. “We did what we needed to make the show and we were running really good and moving forward in the feature. Unfortunate issues happened as another car got into us and put us into the wall. I guess that will happen at tracks like that. It hurt the car and killed a good night for us.”

Williamson had advanced several positions and was contending for a top 15 when a crash ended his night early. He was credited with a 23rd-place result.

The team spent the next two nights at I-70 Motorsports Park, where Williamson qualified 24th quickest both nights. He finished eighth in both a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown on Friday before advancing from eighth to seventh in a heat race and from fourth to third place in the consolation race on Saturday. That earned a spot into the feature, but Williamson was unable to race because of a mechanical problem.

“That was our first time in a 410 at a big track,” he said. “I hadn’t raced with that much speed. That was something I had to get used to. On the second night once the track slicked off in the B Main we were really good.

“Our laps were good and I felt good all weekend. We just needed a bit more speed. We’ll just keep racing and learning.”

Williamson will look at the weather at the end of this week before deciding whether to race on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, or at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo.
