Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (April 27, 2021) – Frank Flud scored a pair of runner-up results and a trio of top fives last Saturday at Port City Raceway, giving him a whopping 23 top fives in 26 races this year.
Flud’s best run came in the Winged ‘A’ Class division as he advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race before hustling from 10th to second in the main event.
“The track was pretty heavy and we made a good charge toward the front,” he said. “I took advantage of people’s mistakes and tried to be as consistent and smooth as I could. Traffic just didn’t fall the way we needed to. It worked out to come home second.”
Flud duplicated that result in the Outlaw division. He drove from fifth to third place in a heat race and from sixth to second in the feature despite being involved in an early incident.
“We got in a wreck on the start,” he said. “It bent the torsion tube and nose wing. I was able to keep rolling so I restarted toward the front, but it was a handful. I figured out how to run second.”
Flud won a heat race and gained two positions to place fourth in the Stock Non-Wing feature.
“We moved forward, but we struggled throughout the feature,” he said. “I got to second a couple of times, but traffic didn’t fall the way we needed to. The car wasn’t spot on, but I felt like I still had speed.
“The silver lining of the night was Jace Park made a charge from 18th to eighth in ‘A’ Class. He also had a really strong run and finished fifth in non-wing.”
Flud plans on joining the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division this Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., before returning to Port City Raceway on Saturday.
