Inside Line Promotions – SWEDESBORO, N.J. (April 26, 2021) – Joey Amantea continued a hot streak behind the wheel of a 600cc wingless micro sprint as he captured a top-five finish at Spirit Auto Center Speedway Friday night.

In three micro sprint starts this season the Mt. Pocono, Pa., native has yet to finish outside of the top 10.

“It was a solid night for us as it ended up being the only race we ran all weekend,” he said. “The goal for the micro is to contend every time out and we are doing that so I’d call it a success.”

Amantea’s night started off with drama when he was involved in a first corner incident in his heat race. However, he was able to keep going and went on to score the win from the third starting spot.

“I went to pull a slider in the first turn and we just unfortunately made contact and it could’ve easily been a bad night,” he said. “Luckily we kept going and it allowed us to get to the front pretty quickly and we were able to turn a potential issue into a positive.”

The feature redraw yielded the 12th starting position for the main event, but Amantea methodically marched his way through the field. At the completion of the 25-lap event he crossed under the checkered flag in the fifth position. The top five was his third of the season.

“We were really good and it was a ton of fun out there racing with a really tough field,” he said. “I love going to Spirit Auto Center Speedway and I think we learned a lot about the car going forward. We’ll keep tuning on it and see if we can maybe get a few more wins.”

Next up for Amantea will be wingless micro sprint starts on Wednesday at Shellhammer’s Speedway in Leesport, Pa., and Sunday at Spirit Auto Center Speedway for a $1,000-to-win Hand of 1 Poker Series event. Sandwiched in between those will be a first-ever visit to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., on Friday to compete with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“I’ve always wanted to go to Williams Grove as a fan, but never could really get there due to all of our racing plans,” he said. “So to get there as a racer with a national series like ASCS is a dream come true. We’re going in with an open mind and looking to learn a few things and hopefully we can hold our own.”
