Hartland, Wisconsin (April 21st, 2021) – Bill Balog and B Squared Motorsports headed East to compete with the All Star Circuit of Champions four-race swing through Virginia and Pennsylvania, kicking things off with a $12,000-to-win blockbuster at Virginia Motor Speedway and consecutive visits to Williams Grove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway, and Bedford Speedway April 15th through 18th.
After making minor equipment changes following the opening weekend of All Star racing at Attica Raceway, the North Pole Nightmare unloaded a fast car in his debut appearance at Virginia Motor Speedway. The 10-time IRA Outlaw Sprint Champion qualified 4th quick, won his heat race and moved up three spots in the dash after drawing the #8 starting position. In the A-Main Bill was competing for a hard-fought 5th position with Danny Dietrich before falling victim to a flat left front tire after running against the infield guardrail.
“We learned a lot over the last few weeks and changed to a different style of shocks which instantly made things more comfortable in the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B. We were fast all night and that gave the team a lot of confidence heading into the rest of the weekend.” said Balog.
The next two All Star Circuit of Champions evenings consisted of the Tommy Hinnershitz Classic at Williams Grove Speedway and Port Royal’s $10,000-to-win Keith Kauffman Classic where the team struggled in heat race action, despite qualifying 4th quick, and were forced to qualify for both A-Main events via the B-Main transfer. Bill and the Howard Law #17B was forced to pull into the infield on the last lap after running 18th, up five spots from his 23rd starting position at “The Grove”. In the Keith Kauffman Classic at Port Royal the team ultimately moved up six spots to finish 16th from their 22nd starting position.
“We struggled in our heat races and that made the Williams Grove and Port Royal evenings more difficult. I’m proud of the team. We had some help preparing the car before the main events and we were as good as we have ever been on those tracks. We battled and moved up each night in the A-Mains.” Bill Balog said.
The final event of the four-stop swing provided the most consistent night of the young 2021 All Star Circuit of Champions season for the team, qualifying in 7th position, transferring directly to the A-Main by running 2nd in their heat race and bringing home an 11th place finish after being off on gearing in their first visit to Bedford Speedway.
Driver Bill Balog said “It was a new track and we were off on gearing just a bit at Bedford. The intensity is there and the Anderson’s Maple Syrup #17B was fast all weekend, we competed for every position. The team made good progress and have the speed, we just need to put together a complete night to get the final results we expect. We’re close.”
