POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints Ready for 2021 Racing Season

Belleville, IL. (04/20/2021) After a long offseason, the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints are proud to unveil their ambitious and eager 2021 tentative season schedule with thirty-five event dates.

Spanning nine venues over four states, including a duo of POWRi Lightning Sprint National events and a regional border battle, the POWRi MKLS will see outstanding open-wheel racing action primarily in the North Dakota and Minnesota region with a pair of trips to the Show-Me State’s POWRi Midwest Lighting Sprints.

With dates ranging from April until September, the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints will split calling Buffalo River Speedway and Greenbush Race Park home, as both venues will host eight events throughout the summer months. Drivers will visit Devil’s Lake Speedway seven times in 2021 as five trips to River Cities Speedway are planned for the POWRi MKLS. Norman County Raceway, Central Missouri Speedway, and Red River Valley Speedway will all host a pair of events in 2021 with I-35 Speedway on the schedule a single time.

Starting the year off on Saturday, April 24th at Devils Lake Speedway in a non-points event to jump-start the season campaign followed by the Opening-Points event on Saturday, May 15th back at Devils Lake Speedway in Crary, North Dakota with the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints.

Memorial Day Weekend, on May 29-30, will mark the return of the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals, hosted in 2021 at Central Missouri Speedway with the POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints. After a successful event at Lake Ozark Speedway in 2019, the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals would be removed from the scheduling at Belle-Clair Speedway in 2020, due to Covid-19 regulations, making the return in 2021 even more highly anticipated. Central Missouri Speedway aims to get the action back on track as drivers prepare for this one-of-a-kind weekend of national competition with two separate dates of excitement-laden racing action.

Expanding the number of POWRi National Lightning Sprint Events in 2021 will see competitors from all over make the long trek to the north for the inaugural POWRi MKLS Summer Shootout from August 12-15. Norman County Raceway, in Ada Minnesota, will kick off the inaugural POWRi MKLS Summer Shootout on Thursday, August 12th with a trip to “The Bullring” of River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks North Dakota on Friday, August 13th. Saturday, August 14th the MKLS Summer Shootout will travel to Greenbush Minnesota for racing at Greenbush Race Park as the final leg of the four-day tour stops off at the newly re-opened and improved Buffalo River Speedway, in Glyndon Minnesota, on Sunday, August 15th.

Back by the popular driver and fan demand, the POWRi MLS vs. MKLS Border Battle is back in 2021 at I-35 Speedway on Saturday, September 25th as drivers from the northern region duel it out for the top-spot on-track with their sanctioning body-brethren in a friendly non-points night bragging-rights skirmish.
