Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 14, 2021) – Tucker Boulton earned his first career top-five finish behind the wheel of a 360ci winged sprint car in only his second start last Saturday.
Boulton hustled from 13th to fifth at I-30 Speedway, where he only had limited laps in 305ci sprint car competition prior to last weekend.
“It was great,” he said. “We went in and the car felt really good in hot laps. We didn’t do as well as we wanted to in the heat race. We ended up finishing where we started – fifth.
“I told my crew guy Ricky that we’re leaving tonight with a top-five finish. We had a really strong race car. I got frustrated from the heat race because my helmet fogged up. I wanted to make a statement in the feature and that’s what we did.”
Boulton was efficient utilizing the bottom groove around the quarter-mile oval.
“I took my time,” he said. “I was watching some guys rip the top and hit the holes and slide off the track. I was passing cars on the bottom and was really fast. I just stayed down there and we were the fastest on the bottom.”
The performance gives Boulton added confidence entering his first 305 winged sprint car race of the season this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.
“We’re going into this weekend with a new car I haven’t ran before,” he said. “It will be nice to be on our home track to try it. Confidence is definitely there so hopefully everything goes as well as it did last weekend.”
