Nienhiser Battles World of Outlaws at Tri-State Speedway Before USAC Schedule Ramps Up

PETERSEN MEDIA: Climbing back in a winged car for the first time since October, Paul Nienhiser and KO Motorsports were in action at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN to battle the World of Outlaws on Saturday night.
“It was the first time I have been back in a winged car since last Fall, and on top of that Haubstadt, IN has not been one of my stronger tracks over the years, so I really didn’t know what to expect,” Paul Nienhiser said. “The KO Motorsports guys really put a great car under me, and I felt really good all night long.”
After turning in some very impressive times in warmups, Nienhiser’s qualifying game plan didn’t go as planned as he ended up 16th fastest in his group aboard the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Peterbilt/Hutson John Deere backed No. 5k.
Lining up eight in his heat race, the Chapin, IL driver would actually feel very sporty under racing conditions as he was able to jump into sixth and battle for the fifth and final transfer position. Unable to secure the final transfer, Nienhiser would move into the Last Chance Showdown where he would grid the field from the third position.
In LCS action, Nienhiser was able to work both the high and low grooves as he battled with the likes of World of Outlaws regulars, Donny Schatz and Brock Zearfoss. Able to finish second, Nienhiser would move into the feature event, though he would take the green flag from the 23rd starting position.
From the back of the pack, Nienhiser was able to put together a nice little charge in the early goings of the 40-lap affair on the Indiana bullring. Able to get up to 14th, Nienhiser would find himself racing with teammate, Chase Stockon.
Getting a little sideways as he tried to move forward, Nienhiser would notice his water temp was spiking, and he made the decision to call it a night on the 30th lap.
“Aside from time trials, it was a pretty decent night for this team,” Nienhiser said. “It felt great to pass some really good cars and have some really good speed. Another good night with KO Motorsports, and I have to give a big thanks to them for the ride against ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’.”
Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Roadworks, Peterbilt, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
2021 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-5, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
ON TAP: Nienhiser will now shift back into USAC mode as he is set for three nights of action this week. Friday night the series invades Bloomington Speedway, Saturday night Tri State Speedway, and on Sunday night Paragon Speedway.
