Inside Line Promotions – ATTICA, Ohio (April 13, 2021) – It took a little longer than Greg Wilson hoped last Friday, but the night yielded the result that he aimed to achieve at Attica Raceway Park.
Wilson rallied through the field to earn a top-10 finish in his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics backed sprint car. It marked his seventh top 10 of the season and first during 410ci winged sprint car competition this year.
“That was the most competitive we’ve felt in the 410 in a while,” he said. “We worked on our car setup-wise and mechanically all night leading up to the B Main. Then we left the car alone for the feature to really see what we had. I can say that I was pleased and ready to go racing again on Saturday.”
Wilson kicked off Friday night by qualifying eighth quickest in his group. He advanced a position in a heat race to end seventh, which relegated him to the B Main. The changes Wilson made to his race car clicked as he hustled from fifth to second place in the consolation race.
“I wasn’t sure what was going to happen in the B Main, but once I got on it during the warm-up lap I felt good,” he said. “We ran second to Byron (Reed), who has been great at Attica. We didn’t have a lot of time before the feature and I wanted to really gauge the progress so we didn’t changed the car up.”
Wilson’s progress persisted in the A Main as he charged from 17th to eighth. The nine positions gained was tied for the most by any driver in the 30-lap main event.
“I was pretty frustrated with the previous weekend at Attica so to make the progress we did last Friday was great,” he said. “That’s why we changed our schedule up this year is to be able to go to the same track two weeks in a row to see the progress. And we’re excited to go back this Friday to try to make even more progress.”
Wilson plans on racing this Friday at Attica Raceway Park as well as Saturday at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Orrville, Ohio, with the Ti22 Performance FAST on Dirt Series.
