Inside Line Promotions – SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (April 13, 2021) – Alex Hill is looking forward to returning to the track this weekend after losing another race to weather last weekend.

The Hill’s Racing Team driver plans to compete this Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in North Sioux City, S.D., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Inclement weather canceled a race in Louisiana last weekend and cold temperatures has canceled a show in Iowa this Friday.

“I’m anxious to get back on the track,” Hill said. “We’ve raced a lot less this year so far than we usually have in past years. I know some of the other drivers have been able to race more, but we’ve only been able to race two weekends this year. It’s a bit of a disadvantage for us and we really need time on the track.”

Hill not only misses the competition, but track time is particularly important for her this year with learning to drive a new car.

“About the biggest drawback of not racing much this year has been that I haven’t had much time to get real comfortable with my new car,” she said. “It drives quite a bit different than my old one. It’s touchier, which takes some getting used to. It felt better the last time I raced at Lake Ozark, but I still need more laps in it to feel better.

“We also had a longer offseason than normal. I’m just hoping that the weather will start cooperating and we can get back into our regular routine of racing about every weekend.”

While Hill is now in her fifth year of traveling full time with the ASCS National Tour, she’ll once again face the challenge of competing at tracks for the first time with Saturday being her first-ever visit to Park Jefferson International Speedway. New tracks present a challenge to a driver who only gets a few hot laps of experience before competition begins against other drivers who may have previous laps on the unique surface.

“I enjoy visiting new places and racing at new tracks,” she said. “But they can be difficult to be competitive at when you don’t have any experience there. My crew chief, Daryl, can usually set the car up pretty well. But every track is different and it’s tough to be fast right away.”
