Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (April 6, 2021) – Gunner Ramey kicked off the 2021 racing season on solid ground last weekend with a pair of races behind the wheel of the No. 21 Terry Doogs Racing 360ci winged sprint car.
The 18-year-old returned to the driver’s seat at Lake Ozark Speedway, which hosted the LOS Spring Nationals on Friday and Saturday. Ramey garnered results of eighth and 13th, respectively, in the ASCS Warrior Region and ASCS Sooner Region co-sanctioned event.
It began on Friday with a run from fourth to second place in a heat race. That earned enough points to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the A Main.
“Friday night was a good first night for us,” he said. “We started eighth and pretty much stayed there the entire race. It was a rough track, but overall a good night to start the season with.”
On Saturday night Ramey advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race and from third to second place in the B Main. It was good enough to start 16th in the A Main. He gained a trio of positions to finish 13th for his second straight top-15 performance of the weekend.
“At the end of the weekend our team was able to roll the car back in the box in one piece, which is better than a lot of the teams could say,” he said. “We made some good laps and built our notebook. At the same time it was just really good to get back into the groove.”
Ramey is slated to take this weekend off before resuming competition on April 16 at 300 Raceway in Farley, Iowa, with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
