Belleville, IL. (04/01/2021) With potentially one of the biggest fleets of rookies the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League has seen, the race for the Rookie of the Year title is going to be a good one. Keith Kunz Motorsports and Chad Boat Industries field the most rookies for the 2021 season.
Brent Crews currently leads rookie points after the Turnpike Challenge in Oklahoma. Crews best finish so far on the 2021 season, is two fifth place finishes at Monarch Motor Speedway for the first race of the season. He also has earned himself one hard charger award. His best finish behind the wheel of his CBIndustries #86 at the 8th Annual Turnpike Challenge was a sixth-place finish at Port City Raceway.
Bryant Wiedeman is in the eighth position in season points and sits second overall in rookie points behind Crews. Wiedeman had two top five finishes and four top ten. His best finish on the season came to him with a pair of fourth place finishes, one came at Monarch Motor Speedway and I-44 Riverside Speedway.
Ryan Timms, who is also a member of the CBIndustries team sits behind Crews in rookie points. Timms career best finish came to him at Monarch Motor Speedway for the season opener, bringing him a sixth- place finish. But a week later at I-44 Riverside Speedway for the Turnpike Challenge, Timms finished at his best, in the fourth position.
The KKM stable brought 13-year-old, Cade Lewis out of Bakersfield, CA. aboard the #67K for the 2021 season. In only his second race with the team, Lewis brought home an eighth-place finish at Monarch Motor Speedway. Lewis also ran the Turnpike Challenge and made two A features, finishing 17th and 23rd.
Dave Mac Motorsports fields two rookies for the season also. Rees Moran, the driver behind the number 10 out of Tulsa, OK. is off to a good start to the season also. His best career finish came to him at Monarch Motor Speedway, finishing in the 10th position.
All four rookies sit in the top 20 already for season points. The race for the rookie of the year title will be one of the most intense and suspenseful with the field this season.
