POWRi SWLS See Turnbull and Sexton Win Mohave with Barona Opener Approaching

Belleville, IL. (04/01/2021) Rising teenage racer James Turnbull II and veteran wheelman Brent Sexton would both grab the main event feature win with the Lucas Oil POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprints at Arizona’s Mohave Valley Raceway in a weekend of racing excitement.

Friday’s feature event would witness the Indio, California based Jesse Turnbull in his Tierra Site Works/Pro-Tech Services/Steve Arey Construction/JD Fire/R&S Drywall/Ebco Off-Road/Brisas Air Condition/FK Racing Shocks/WEM/Sherman Racecars/James Yoast Tile/Dyer Motorsports/DLX/ZX10 #2J, set a blistering pace in the twenty-lap race. San Diego’s David Bezio stayed close to Turnbull for a couple of laps but by the time the checkered ended the race, Turnbull was in front of the competition by a half-lap. Bezio finished second with 16-year-old Grant Sexton rounding out the podium. Finishing fourth was Braden Chiaramonte of El Cajon with Rudy Padilla placing fifth place.

Saturday night’s portion of the two-night Mohave Valley Raceway event would see pole sitter Brent Sexton gain the lead from the drop of the initial green flag over his first-row counterpart Jeff Dyer for the top two spots. Those positions did not change in the race that went green to checkers uninterrupted with Sexton building up a sizable lead until encountering lapped traffic late in the race. While closing in for a battle up-front Dyer would run out of time, forcing him to settle for a second-place finish. David Bezio finished third with Rudy Padilla fourth and Braden Chiaramonte rounding out the feature’s top five.
