Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (March 29, 2021) – Garet Williamson nearly made his first career World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series feature start last Saturday.
The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver invaded Lake Ozark Speedway for his third career appearance with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ after the scheduled tripleheader with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour rained out.
“I was happy we were running that good, but it’s disappointing,” he said. “We wanted to make it so bad. To compete with those guys and be that fast shows our program is heading in the right direction.”
Williamson made progress throughout the night on a tricky track. He qualified 30th quickest before advancing from 10th to eighth place in a heat race.
“We struggled with qualifying and I made a mistake on back to back laps, but we learned from it and we were fast the rest of the night,” he said. “We got rolling in the heat and we were really rolling in the Last Chance Showdown.”
Williamson started the Last Chance Showdown in sixth and he picked up a pair of positions early, running fourth for the majority of the race. Unfortunately, a flat right rear tire forced Williamson to the work area late in the consolation race. He tagged the field and advanced to ninth before the checkered flag waved. Williamson was only three positions shy of making the A Main.
“We were running fourth and right there with the top three,” he said. “You get humbled every once in a while. We cut a right rear. There was a huge rock in the track. That was frustrating being that close to making our first A Main with the Outlaws, especially at our home track.”
The team plans on returning to Lake Ozark Speedway this Friday and Saturday for a two-day event with the ASCS Sooner Region and ASCS Warrior Region.
“I love that place and I feel we get around there really good,” he said. “I’m really comfortable there. To go to a 360 show after running the 410 last weekend, I think we should be pretty good. The competition will be good there. I’m sure quite a few ASCS National Tour guys will be there. I’m super pumped to head back and see how it shakes out.”
