Bryan Hulbert – MESQUITE, Texas (March 25, 2021) Setting sights on a pair of top-five finishes this past weekend with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Network, a snag on Friday night relegated Dylan Westbrook to a DNF before rebounding to a runner-up finish the following night.
Gridding the field ninth Friday night, Dylan looked to wheel the Nitro 54 Variety No. 47x into the top five on a Lap 22 restart, but contact moving into the top groove just past the midpoint of the back straightaway sent him spinning into, and finally on the wall that lines the very outer edge of the Devil’s Bowl Speedway.
“We were good. I was going to run the top and went to make the switch going into three, and when I did, I got tagged and that sent me around and before I knew it, I was riding the wall, so it tore the car up pretty good,” said Dylan.
Having to bring down the spare car for Saturday’s event, the Scotland, Ont. Shoe worked through his Heat and Qualifier to earn the pole in the SawBlade.com A-Feature. Leading until Lap 17, a misstep in traffic relegated him to second.
“I just missed it. We were on the bottom, and when I tried to get around the slower car, it opened the door, but coming back after Friday, we were happy with the results.”
With rain taking away this weekend's events with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Westbrook’s next outing is TBA but will be with the tour on Saturday, April 10 at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La.
For fans not able to attend, races can be seen live on Racinboys.com and FloRacing.com.
Dylan Westbrook is a part of the Canadian-based Hills Racing Team. The 2021 season marks the 17th year of racing for Dylan Westbrook.
