Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (March 24, 2021) – The Hill’s Racing Team No. 77x will have a fill-in driver this weekend for Alex Hill, who is unable to tackle the trio of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour shows because of a school commitment.

Veteran Tim Kaeding will drive for the team on Thursday at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas, and Friday and Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.

“I’ll miss racing this weekend, but I’m happy that Tim Kaeding will be driving my car at Superbowl and I-30 earning owner points for us,” Hill said.

Misfortune plagued Hill’s opening weekend of the 2021 racing season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour last Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

“Our weekend didn’t go too well,” she said. “I was learning to drive a new car and we had some other matters that kept us from having a better weekend.
“Our new car didn’t fit quite right for me. It’s not the same getting fitted for a new car in the shop compared to when you’re racing it, but we made some adjustments and got it better.”

Hill began her first race of the year by starting ninth in her 10-car heat race.
“I made a mistake in the heat race and barely grazed the infield tire,” she said. “I really didn’t think there was any damage, but then I spun out from the damage that was done to the front end, which ended my race. That gave us a deep starting position in a B Main. I was able to move up a little bit, but not enough to get a transfer position.”

Hill started and parked the main event after utilizing a provisional.
A unique situation at the start of her heat race on Saturday put Hill in the hole early.

“At the start of the race one of the cars went twirling in the air as I went by him,” she said. “Then I saw red lights and stopped, figuring it was a red because he flipped. It turned out he didn’t flip over and landed on his tires. The red lights I saw were from the ambulances, which were on the inside and outside of the track. So I had to restart at the back since I stopped. I was able to get back to finish where I started (sixth), but that was it.”

Hill started her B Main in sixth and was running in a transfer spot when misfortune struck again.

“I dropped back to about eighth for a bit and then moved forward into a transfer spot,” she said. “I was racing for fifth with a handful of laps left when a guy spun in front of me, leaving me nowhere to go and I flipped. My car wasn’t damaged real bad, but enough to put me out of the race.”

Hill’s next race will be April 2-3 at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., with the ASCS Sooner Region and ASCS Warrior Region.
