Inside Line Promotions – WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 23, 2021) – Brenham Crouch is riding a wave of momentum into the 8th annual Turnpike Challenge.
The Toyota Racing backed Keith Kunz Motorsports driver earned his first two top 10s in POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League competition last weekend. Crouch placed a career-best ninth on Friday at Monarch Motor Speedway before he backed it up with a 10th-place showing at the dirt oval on Saturday.
“It’s definitely a confidence booster,” he said. “It’s great to run in the top 10 with a national series.
“We struggled in the heat race a little on Friday night and had a slow start to the feature, but we rebounded and worked our way into the top 10. On Saturday we were up to third or fourth in the feature before the rubber came. A couple of cars got by and then we tangled with a lapped car so we had to go to the back. I rallied back to fifth or sixth and we blew a right rear tire with two laps to go.”
Crouch is taking the positive from his two solid results into a four-race weekend with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League. It begins on Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., before I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City, Okla., hosts races on Friday and Saturday. The weekend finale is Sunday at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla.
“We haven’t been to Creek County yet,” he said. “We got rained out there last year. I’m interested to see how that track races. We have done a couple of races at I-44 and have been quick there so I’m confident returning to that track. And our good run at Port City last year was ended early by a racing deal. We had good speed and can contend there as well so that adds confidence for this weekend.”
