Granger, IA—August 21, 2011—Kraig Kinser and the Casey’s General Store team have been working hard each and every day since the off-season when they joined forces for the 2011 World of Outlaws campaign. That hard work is paying off as they have recently found more consistency over the last few weeks and continue to gain momentum as they stretch run continues.
Kinser is in the midst of a busy stretch with the World of Outlaws, as the series competes five times in a nine-day span as the Great Northern Tour takes the series to four tracks in a couple of states and one Canadian Province. The Great Northern Tour got underway this past weekend with a pair of races and wraps up this coming weekend with a doubleheader.
The native of Bloomington, Ind. came from the 16th starting spot to finish sixth at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D. on Saturday night, to earn his 14th Top-10 finish of the season. In the process he moved up to ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings. The third generation driver finished 12th in the opener of the Great Northern Tour on Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, S.D.
The Great Northern Tour continues for the World of Outlaws this week with a return to Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D. for the first time since 2007 on Tuesday, Aug. 23, followed by the 5th Annual Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Friday, Aug. 26 and Saturday, Aug. 27.
Kinser will be making his debut at Black Hills Speedway and has had a good amount of success in his career when he visits tracks for the first time with the World of Outlaws. The 2005 Knoxville Nationals winner was victorious in 2008 at North Central Speedway in Minnesota when the series made their debut at that facility. He also won in his first start with the series at first start at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon in 2004 and Batesville Speedway in Arkansas in 2005.
Kinser competed at Castrol Raceway for the first time in 2008 and finished a career-best seventh at the track the following season. Last season he was second-fastest in time trials in the opener of the Oil City Cup and was sixth in time trials in the finale, racing his way into the dash on the first night. Kraig has made a total of six starts at the 3/8-mile over the last three seasons. The World of Outlaws have been making the trek north to Edmonton each and every year since 2007 for the Oil City Cup and will mark the final two races of a five-race set north of the border this season.
Kinser enters this week ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of 14 Top-10 finishes as he continues his first season driving the Casey’s General Store Maxim for Parsons Motorsports.
Kraig on Black Hills Speedway:
“We’ve been pretty fortunate this year to have gotten to visit a number of tracks I’d never raced at and Black Hills will be another of those. They have gone back to the bigger half-mile since the last time everyone was there, so it will be kind of be like a new track for everyone. Being a half-mile, qualifying and track position will be important and hopefully we can use a few of the things we’ve learned at the bigger tracks this year to be fast right out of the box there.”
Kraig on Castrol Raceway:
“We always enjoy going to Edmonton. The fans up there are great and it’s the only time of the year they get to see us, so they always turn out in good numbers. I’ve never had quite the best of luck there, so hopefully we can turn that around this time. The track is usually pretty racy and has a couple of grooves.”
