Inside Line Promotions – MONROE, La. (March 16, 2021) – Garet Williamson is hopeful his first weekend of racing with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will pay dividends as the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season has arrived.

The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver made his 410ci winged sprint car debut last weekend with the World of Outlaws and he soaked up the experience.

“We missed the show both nights, but the gain from Friday to Saturday was huge,” he said. “We improved a lot, just getting more comfortable. It was also a new track for us so adapting to that and how the car felt throughout the track was a lot different. I think getting comfortable is huge in racing. Getting things to slow down is important as well.”

Williamson qualified 28th quickest, placed seventh in a heat race and finished 10th in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss.

He ventured to The Rev on Saturday and took a step forward. Williamson timed in 25th quickest, advanced from ninth to eighth place in a heat race and held onto a transfer position into the A Main until being passed on the final lap to finish seventh in the Last Chance Showdown.

“I think breathing more in the car and settling down as a driver, not overthinking stuff was key to a better night,” he said. “We were really good the first part of that Last Chance Showdown. We started getting free. I should have pulled my wing back. I was too focused about making the A Main and didn’t make a decision I would have easily made if we were running the 360. That was a learning moment.”

Williamson starts ASCS National Tour action this weekend during the season-opening event. Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, hosts the 48th annual Spring Nationals on Friday and Saturday.

“We’re excited to get going with the ASCS National Tour stuff,” he said. “We already have our feet wet this year and have made laps and got the kinks out. I’m excited to get there and see the gains we’ve made.

“Last year I struggled there. That track is a lot different. The shape of it is different. If I can make the show both nights and run in the top 10 it’ll be a good weekend.”
