Bryan Hulbert – SOMERTON, Ariz. (March 11, 2021) Returning to one of Arizona’s premier racing venues, the ASCS Southwest Region will headline action at Cocopah Speedway on Saturday, March 13, for the first time since November 11, 2017.
Kicking off the 2021 season on February 20 at Central Arizona Speedway, California’s Justin Sanders topped the field in the Bob Ream owned No. 8. Fresh off a sweep of the famed Silver Cup at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway, the Aromas, Cali. shoe is scheduled to be in attendance this weekend.
Looking to draw drivers from across the Southwest, word of drivers making the trip from the Midwest has pinned former Washington native Seth Bergman as one to watch this weekend as well. Now residing in Owasso, Okla., the weekend will be a perfect chance for the Evergreen Coffee Co. No. 23 to get the car ready for the 2021 season opener with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network at the Devil’s Bowl the following weekend.
Going into the tour’s second round of competition, Sanders’s February win puts him atop the standings with New Mexico’s Wes Wofford in tow. JT Imperial holds second, with Lorne Wofford and Alex Pettas making up the top five.
Saturday, March 13, opens at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00 P.M. (MT). Admission is $15, with Seniors and Military, admitted for $12. Kids 12 and under are free into the Grandstands. Pit Passes are $35. The night’s card includes Yuma Insurance Sport Mods Mods & Alexander Ford Hobby Stocks. Cocopah Speedway is located between Yuma and Somerton, Ariz., on the Cocopah Indian Reservation. The track sits across the street from the Cocopah Casino at County 15th & US 95.
