Inside Line Promotions – TAMPA, Fla. (March 11, 2021) – Brian Brown resumed the 2021 season, which had been delayed approximately a month because of weather, last weekend with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
Brown and the Outlaws visited two dirt ovals in Florida and will head to Mississippi and Louisiana this weekend.
March 5 – Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. – Qualifying: 4; Heat race: 3 (2); Feature: 16 (7).
“It was good to get back to racing,” Brown said. “Things started off pretty well for us there at Volusia. We qualified pretty well. I was decent in the heat, but let Gio (Scelzi) sneak by for second. That kept us out of the dash. In the feature I was running around the top-10 range and made a bad decision on a double-file restart. I put myself in a bad position and lost a few spots. The next double-file restart I tried to make up for what I lost and lost a few more. I think we only got passed by one car in clean air. I just made some bad decisions on double-file restarts, which I can’t do with these guys or they’ll make you pay.”
March 6 – East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, Fla. – Qualifying: 12; Heat race: 4 (4); Feature: 17 (12).
“We got lucky with getting that one in with the weather being iffy all day long,” Brown said. “We were pretty decent in the feature. We just faded there late. Our feature program is not where it needs to be right now and that’s what pays the money. It seems like we’re good some time during the night. We just haven’t put a whole night together. This is a different configuration car that we ran in the past. We’re just learning every night. That’s why we’re out here to race with these guys. You’re not going to learn sitting at home doing nothing. We have to come out here and some nights get our teeth kicked in to be able to learn.”
UP NEXT – Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., and Saturday at The Rev in Monroe, La., with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series
“I’m looking forward to two new tracks this weekend,” Brown said. “I’ve never seen them. I haven’t found a lot of data on the internet with videos either. It should be an exciting weekend. When the Outlaws go to areas they haven’t been for a while the crowds are good. I’m looking forward to racing in front of some huge crowds with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.’”
