Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBIA, Mo. (March 8, 2021) – This weekend marks the second attempt for Garet Williamson to make his World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series debut.
Mother Nature halted his plan to join ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ last month. This weekend the Bryant Paver Motorsports driver plans on racing in the World of Outlaws shows on Friday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., and Saturday at The Rev in Monroe, La.
“We want to make the show both nights, learn as much as we can and have fun,” Williamson said. “That’s one of the things about racing is to have fun. At the end of the day it’s more laps that we are getting, too. Also, racing a 410 is a lot faster so it might slow us down when we get back to the 360 stuff.”
Williamson, who will spend the majority of this year following the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour for the second straight season, noted that the team plans on tackling approximately 10 races in the 410ci winged sprint car division this year.
“Whenever we have an off weekend from ASCS we’ll go to Knoxville or wherever it makes sense,” he said. “I think after this weekend our next time to race with the World of Outlaws will be the two nights at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., next month. I’m really looking forward to racing there because that track looks like a lot of fun.”
Williamson has made four starts this year in the 360ci sprint car division, earning one top five and two top 10s. Not only will this weekend mark his first World of Outlaws event, it will also be his first time piloting a 410 sprint car.
“We haven’t even fired it yet,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to the new challenge.”
