Sherwood, OR – February 28, 2021….The WSS Board of Directors has officially delivered the schedule of events for the Wingless Sprint Series, which enters its sixth season of competition in 2021. All dates below are contingent on our tracks being able to have fans in the stands. State regulations are still unknown at this time, but we will update everyone as we get more information from our track promoters.
The series begins its 2021 venture at Cottage Grove Speedway, the famed ¼-mile banked oval, on Saturday April 10th. The WSS will return for four more nights throughout the season, May 8th, June 19th and the double-header on August 27th and 28th for the Herz Precision Parts Wingless Nationals.
The series travels to Sunset Speedway Park for the first of four shows on Saturday, April 24th. The ¼-mile clay bullring always provides exciting, close competition for wingless sprints. This year, SSP will play host to the Van Raden Industries Wingless Sprint Challenge Series where drivers will be competing for a year-end payoff over the four visits. The WSS will return to SSP again on June 26th, August 7th and will finish up on September 11th.
The largest facility the series will travel to is the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA. The 3/8-mile super-fast oval will play host to 5 nights of exciting racing. First off will be the “Salute to Indy” – Battle at the Harbor presented by Modern Machinery on Saturday and Sunday May 29th & 30th. This will be an exciting 2-day event that will have a unique format ending with a 40-lap main event and a huge firework show following the night’s racing. The series will be back on June 12th, July 17th and a final time on September 6th with the World of Outlaws.
The WSS will travel up to Skagit Speedway in Alger, WA for the first time ever on Saturday, August 14th for the Wingless Sprint Extravaganza presented by Herz Precision Parts. This world renowned 4/10-mile clay oval has put on some of the biggest wing sprint car races over the years and the Wingless Sprint Series is excited to bring wingless sprint car racing to the famed facility.
The WSS Board of Directors are currently working on a couple more dates to add and will announce them as soon as possible. For sponsorship opportunities or inquiries, please contact Rob Lindsey at (425) 308-1162 or rlindsey@pga.com.
