Belleville, IL. (01/20/2021) Entering into the second season under the Performance Open Wheel Racing Incorporated sanctioning body, the POWRi Lucas Oil Southwest Lightning Sprints are all set to continue the outstanding racing for the 2021 season. With nineteen events slotted from late-March until early-October, SWLS drivers will have the opportunity to venture to six states with both wing and non-wing racing on the agenda throughout the year.
Based out of southern California, the POWRi Lucas Oil Southwest Lightning Sprints will kick off their 2021 campaign with winged competition at Pahrump Valley Speedway for three days of racing action. Beginning on Thursday, March 25th with a practice-day and continuing throughout the weekend with feature racing on Friday, March 26th, and Saturday, March 27th.
Memorial Day Weekend, on May 29-30, will mark the return of the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals, hosted in 2021 at Central Missouri Speedway with the POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints. After a successful event at Lake Ozark Speedway in 2019, the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals would be removed from the scheduling at Belle-Clair Speedway in 2020, due to Covid-19 regulations, making the return in 2021 even more highly anticipated. Central Missouri Speedway aims to get the action back on-track as drivers prepare for this one-of-a-kind weekend of national competition with two separate dates of excitement-laden racing action.
Doubling down on the number of POWRi National Lightning Sprint Events in 2021 Southwest Lightning Sprinters could make the long journey to the north for the inaugural POWRi Lightning Sprint Summer Shootout. From August 12th through August 15th, outstanding racing venues in North Dakota and Minnesota as well as the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint series host top-notch sprinters to test their talents in a challenging two-state four-day sweep of racing glory.
Lakeside California’s Barona Speedway will once again serve as hosting facility for the POWRi SWLS with ten Saturday racing dates on the 2021 season schedule including April 3rd, April 17th May 15th (Wingless), June 12th, June 26th (Wingless), August 7th, August 21st (Wingless), September 4th, September 18th (Wingless), and October 2nd. Stepping outside of California on May 1st will see the POWRi Lucas Oil Southwest Lightning Sprints make their lone appearance at Mohave Valley Raceway in Mohave Valley Arizona.
