Inside Line Promotions – LUBBOCK, Texas (Dec. 28, 2020) – Brenham Crouch is focusing on four micro sprint classes this week during the 36th annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout, which runs Wednesday through Saturday.
Crouch will pilot a family owned car during the marquee event inside the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla., where his divisions are winged and non-winged ‘A’ class and outlaw.
“My goal is to lock into all four features,” he said. “I’m going to take it one race at a time. Every time I hit the track I’m aiming to win.”
Crouch nearly captured a coveted driller last year when he led most of the restricted ‘A’ class main event before placing a career-best second. He won a heat race from eighth and maneuvered from fourth to second place in a qualifier to garner the pole position for the feature. Crouch took the lead on the second lap and led for 17 laps before getting passed in traffic. He made one last push for the win at the end only to finish less than six tenths of a second out of the top spot.
“It slipped away from us at the last second,” he said. “But with that run and with how we performed at the John Hinck Championship last summer that gives us a lot of confidence. Plus, running all those bigger cars like we did throughout last season will slow these micro sprints down. I can focus on the smaller things that come in clutch come feature-time. Heat races are crucial. Qualifiers are crucial. I’ve learned a lot through the cars I’ve run this year and it makes your night a lot easier when you set yourself up for success early.”
While Crouch made limited micro sprint starts in 2020, he certainly turned heads when he hit the track. Crouch earned his first career outlaw triumph on June 14 at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. Approximately three weeks later he charged from 20th to sixth to garner the Hard Charger Award during the prestigious John Hinck Championship at Sweet Springs Motorsports Park in Sweet Springs, Mo.
