The Buckwalter name and family is one that is quite well known in the state of Pennsylvania when it comes to racing and motorsports, and is synonymous especially when talking about Open-wheel racing. Bruce Buckwalter Jr made his newest venture in racing during the 2020 season and joined the likes of family members Steve and Tim who have made starts in wingless sprint cars.
The former ARDC Midget competitor had spent the last handful of years competing weekly in the super sportsman ranks at the BAPS (susquehanna) Speedway. The team sold their super sportsman equipment, picked up a DRC Chassis and made their way onto the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series trail in 2020.
Bruce was able to qualify for all 13 feature events during the 2020 USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series Season, collecting seven top ten finishes, a season best sixth at the Winchester Speedway, a track where Buckwalter has previous experience behind the wheel of a midget. Bruce also collected one heat race victory on the 2020 series trail at the Big Diamond Speedway.
As a rookie driver in 2020, the season was one of learning for Bruce, and the rest of the talented rookies that made their way into series competition during the season. Look for Buckwalter and team to return to the series trail full time again for the 2021 Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series, presented by Capitol Renegade series trail.
