JONESTOWN, Pa. (November 23, 2020) – In a quick turn of events, Brock Zearfoss’ off-season has officially been postponed, as the Jonestown, Pennsylvania-native got the call to head west and operate “Bullet” Bob Ream’s familiar No. 8 during Arizona Speedway’s annual Copper Classic featuring the ASCS Southwest Region 360 sprint cars.
Zearfoss, a two-time winner during sprint car competition in 2020 including one against the All Star Circuit of Champions, has never made a start in Arizona, but the “Jonestown Jet” hopes to find success during his first time out with Ream and ultimately leave the Grand Canyon State with a pair of marks in the win column.
The two-day Fifth Annual Copper Classic, taking over Arizona Speedway headlines on Friday and Saturday, November 27-28, will feature two, full programs for the ASCS Southwest Region sprints awarding $2,500 and $5,000, respectively. DJ Netto secured Copper Classic victories during the first two rounds in 2016 and 2017, followed by wins by Colby Copeland in 2018 and Justin Sanders in 2019.
“I can’t thank Bob Ream enough for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to compete in such a special event. Bob, Tom Buch, Mark Keever, Gordon Beeding, Jim Henderson, and Jeff Green all played a big part in making this opportunity happen and I’m going to do what I can to get us up front,” Brock Zearfoss said, a former Port Royal Speedway track champion. “The weekend will be filled with a lot of firsts for me, but I’m confident we’ll have the knowledge and experience to be quick and competitive right off the trailer.
“There are some familiar names on the Copper Classic win list,” Zearfoss added. “Our plan is to join that list.”
