Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 12, 2020) – Brian Brown closed his 2020 campaign with a top-five outing during the World of Outlaws Last Call.
The fifth-place performance on Saturday was Brown’s second-best run of the season with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.’
Nov. 6 – The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C. – Qualifying: 3; Heat race: 9 (2); B Main: DNS (2).
“Going into last weekend we put a different configuration Maxim chassis together hoping that we would find something that would help our speed and I think we did,” Brown said. “We qualified well. Unfortunately, we had an issue with a leak on Friday that gave us a DNF, but we were in position to have a good result so that was encouraging.”
Nov. 7 – The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C. – Qualifying: 4; Heat race: 2 (2); Dash: 3 (5); Feature: 5 (3).
“We qualified well and finished second in the heat race and third in the dash,” Brown said. “We ended up running fifth in the feature. That’s a win for us with how we’ve been. I’m excited about next year now that we have found something. I’ve been looking for a feel as a driver. We made some changes from our current configuration and it gave me the feel that we need to be able to first and foremost qualify good and then race good. My goal was to go down there and if we won that’d be awesome and if we ran third that’d be great, but I just wanted to be in the hunt and mix it up. I felt like both nights we were mixing it up and in contention to have solid nights.
“It was pretty dusty. It was in my opinion way worse just watching it after the fact on DIRTVision than it was on the track. There were a couple of spots off turn four that there was a good cloud of dust there. It wasn’t like driving in fog where you couldn’t see. It was definitely not ideal, but it wasn’t like you needed to cancel the race. For me, once we settled in I didn’t feel like it was getting worse so we could have kept going without the cautions. My car was better on the longer runs. Those short runs we were having wasn’t good for my car, but we were pleased to come away with a top five.”
