Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (Nov. 10, 2020) – Jeffrey West Jr. produced a pair of top 20s last weekend during the 12th annual USCS Flip Flop 50 and USCS Fall Nationals, but it was the experience that was most rewarding for the rookie racer.

“It was pretty fun,” he said. “I thought the format was cool. There were a lot of good and fast drivers. On Friday night we got locked into the top 14. With 38 cars there that was big just to get locked in to the features on Saturday. I felt really good about that.”

West Jr. hustled from sixth to fourth place in a USCS Series heat race, which ranked him 14th in points to garner the final lock-in position into the twin A Mains at Riverside International Speedway.

“In the first feature the track started to slick off a lot and we didn’t have the car quite right,” he said. “We’re still learning a lot. We don’t exactly know what to do when the track goes like that. In the middle of the feature I got up on the cushion behind Derek (Hagar) and we gained some spots. We went off of that to make changes for the second feature.”

West Jr. placed 18th in the opening feature.

“We made some adjustments and had the car pretty good for the second race,” he said. “On the fifth or sixth lap I hopped someone’s nose wing trying to avoid a wreck. It broke off my right front shock. After that I was just trying to hang on and finish the rest of the race. I think if that didn’t happen we’d have had a really good run.

“We didn’t get the results we wanted, but there’s a lot of positives we can take away. We did learn a lot and have a better idea about what we need to do when the track is like that.”

West Jr. was credited with a 17th-place result in the second main event.
