Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBIA, Mo. (Nov. 5, 2020) – Garet Williamson can’t wait to get another crack at the California sprint car scene.

Williamson struggled when kicked off his rookie season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour on the West Coast earlier this year. That stuck with the Missouri driver and now that the ASCS campaign is over, he is back in the Golden State looking to improve.

Williamson will take on some of the best 360ci sprint car drivers in California during Saturday’s Tribute to Gary Patterson at the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton. It’s the first of a five-race stretch in the western part of the country for the Bryant Paver Motorsports driver.

“I’m pumped to be back out there,” he said. “I didn’t get a chance to run Stockton when we were out here (in March), but it’s still another California track and I’m sure I will be back here at some point.

“Getting as many tracks under my belt always helps, and it also gives me a chance to continue racing this year. A lot of people aren’t fortunate enough to keep racing with all of this stuff and the cancellations so to be able to race more this year is going to help a lot.”

Williamson will be more prepared this time around. Not only does he have more experience against top-flight competition under his belt, he will be joined by crew chief Chad Cypert – a California native who has made an impact with the team.

“I think we just have a lot more laps under our belt and we have a completely different package as far as our motor and cars go,” Williamson said. “I think that is huge and I think we will be a lot better. I just think we are better all-around as a team now.

“Chad is from California and grew up around all of these tracks. He has a lot of knowledge and I think that plays a huge factor.”

Williamson will continue the swing on Nov. 14 at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., before heading to Merced Speedway in Merced, Calif., on Nov. 25. He completes the western tour on Nov. 27-28 in Arizona.

But Williamson isn’t worried about the last four events, not with Stockton looming. He is focused on getting off to a good start and gaining more experience for the future.

“Obviously, we want to make the show and go from there,” he said. “I feel like every time we’ve made a show this year we’ve really raced well.

“Getting into shows has always been our biggest thing. We are qualifying out here, which is something I don’t get to do a lot and need to get better at. Hopefully, we can do pretty good in qualifying and set ourselves up.”
