Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Oct. 20, 2020) – Kerry Madsen put on a show last Saturday when he charged from 22nd to a fourth-place result during the Jason Johnson Classic at Lake Ozark Speedway.

It marked the Killer Instinct Crossbow sponsored driver’s sixth top five of the season with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and the 16th top 10 in the last 19 races for Big Game Motorsports.

The weekend began on Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., where Madsen qualified eighth quickest. A runner-up result in a heat race advanced Madsen into the dash. He placed seventh to line up on the inside of the fourth row for the A Main.

“We went out late and qualified just good enough to get us on the front row in a heat,” he said. “We had a good run and ended up in the top two to make the dash. We weren’t great in the dash for some reason. I thought we were pretty good in the main event, but the track was pretty one groove. It wasn’t a typical Lakeside of being up on the wall. The premier line was around the bottom. The car came on good at the end and we ended up seventh.”

Madsen’s seventh-place result was his 40th top 10 of the season.

The team ventured to Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday. Madsen timed in 21st quickest and a sixth-place run in a heat race relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. A runner-up result garnered a transfer into the back of the main event and Madsen hustled his way from 22nd to fourth during the 41-lap feature.

“We drew a late number for qualifying and the track lost a bunch of time, plus my laps weren’t great,” he said. “Then I ended up sixth in the heat so I had to run the LCS. It was almost a blessing because we got to work on our car a little bit. We changed a little bit of stuff and the car was awesome in the A Main. I drove right up through there. I was really good in the middle of turns one and two and the top in turns three and four. I was really happy with that run. At some point you’re gonna start deep in the field. You have to drive as hard as you can. A lot of times you’re just hoping to get a top 10. To really blast up there and get a top five is pretty nice.”

The strong performance also earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

Next up for Big Game Motorsports is a World of Outlaws race on Saturday at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Ind. Madsen finished fourth during his most recent visit to the track in June 2015. He also placed fifth in 2014 and ninth in 2012 among his five career starts at Kokomo Speedway.
