Oklahoma City, OK. (10/17/2020) Winning his first career POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League Feature on Saturday night at I-44 Riverside Speedway for the 16th Annual Charlene Meents Memorial, Daison Pursley was undeniable in the 30-lap main event. Driving around his teammate, Jessie Love on lap 22, Pursley then fended off a few attacks from hard charging Buddy Kofoid as he held on for an impressive first-career victory aboard the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports, Craftsman Tools, Bullet by Spike/Toyota powered No. 9
After an upset Friday for Pursley on, October 16th at I-44 Riverside Speedway, he came out of the gate even hungrier for a win. Purley took the win in the Advances Racing Suspensions heat race 3. Starting in the eight position for the 30-lap main event, he had his hands full.
Noah Gass of Mounds, OK. and Jessie Love of Redwood City, CA. brought the field to the green flag. Gass took off to the early lead as the field fought for positions behind him. A bobble by Gass caused Love to take over the lead on lap four. Pursley only four laps into the main event made his way to take over the fourth position.
Leader Love enters heavy lapped traffic and Pursley closed in on him to fight for the lead. Pursley steps out of line and tries the top side in turn 3&4 to make his move on Love. Pursley threw a slide job in 1&2 and made it stick, parsley presumed the lead on lap 22 and Love fell back to second. Hard charging teammate Buddy Kofoid gave it everything he had to catch Pursley in lapped traffic but was not successful.
In the end, Daison Pursley in his Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports, Craftsman Tools, Bullet by Spike/Toyota powered No. 9 earned his first POWRi career victory at I-44 Riverside Speedway for the 16th Annual Charlene Meents Memorial.
“This is pretty cool; I haven’t won in a long time, so this is pretty amazing. I can’t thank all these guys behind me enough, they gave me a great car tonight. Nonstop racing like that is pretty tough but this is what we come here for.” Daison Pursley
“The past few weeks have been a little rough for us, but I think we kind of found some of our speed back. Daison did a really good job tonight.” Buddy Kofoid
“It’s tough when you’re out front, you’re not too sure where you’re supposed to be. I could have done a better job search and I just got beat. I can’t thank all these guys enough; I want to win one of these so bad.” Jessie Love
