Belleville, IL. (10/12/2020) Traditional desert sprinters within the POWRi Lucas Oil New Mexico Motor Racing Association would the friendly confines of their home-racing facility of Sadia Speedway this past Saturday for the final event of the 2020 racing season. With side-by-side action all over the finely prepared three-eighths-mile oval on the outskirts of Albuquerque New Mexico, the Sprint Car Stampede would not disappoint with a good field of non-wing competitors all attempting to claim the title of “SCS Champion” as Michael Fanelli emerged the winner from an inside row-three starting spot.
Early on-track action would see #92 Dillon Tanner, #45 Jason Grady, and #12J Josh Grady all claim heat race victories. Unfortunately, the Grady’s would both suffer issues throughout the evening taking the initial front-runners from the competition. With a front row of Tanner and #41 Devon Amos leading the field of seventeen non-wing NMMRA competitors to the initial green flag launch.
Leading the pack for the first few revolutions, rookie standout Amos would appear to be the top of the entrants until a mid-race hard charge from #5 Michael Fanelli would see a battle shape up for the first position. Amos would defend the low line to perfection as Fanelli would be forced to search for a way around if he wanted to claim the front. Using a daring exit of turn-two maneuver Fanelli would race his way to the lead and on to the feature victory with Amos finishing in a highly contested second place.
Colt Treharn #77 would battle from a sixth starting position to round out the podium finishers as #86 Zac Taylor would find speed in the later stages of the feature finishing fourth. Taylor would move forward twelve positions during the racing action claiming the event’s hard charger award from a sixteenth starting spot. Spencer Hill #11 rounded out the feature’s top-five finishers.
