Inside Line Promotions – GRANITE CITY, Ill. (Oct. 7, 2020) – Brenham Crouch progressed during his debut at Tri-City Speedway last Friday.

Crouch, who was driving a Toyota Racing sponsored Keith Kunz Motorsports midget during the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League event, advanced from 23rd to 17th in the Gold Crown Midget Nationals A Main after struggling early in the night.

“It’s a tough track to learn and a tough track to race,” he said. “To be honest I struggled there. The rest of the team was fast, but it took me a while to get going. I think watching a few videos and replaying it through my head will help me whenever we get to go back.”

Crouch made up ground early in his heat race before finishing seventh.

“I got a good start and had a good run off turn two the first lap,” he said. “I would have been third or fourth going into turn three. Someone moved up and I had check up, which killed my momentum. I think I fell back to sixth. Then when I was racing for fifth it felt like every time I was hitting my marks I was racing someone and I wasn’t efficient, which allowed someone else to capitalize on it. I have to clean that part of my racing up.”

A broken shock ended Crouch’s run in the B Main early. He used a provisional to line up last in the main event.

“I didn’t feel like I could get a hold of the track,” he said. “I think most of it was the driver. I’ve struggled on the slick on bigger tracks so I have to figure out a way to be better. Running the A Main helps with getting all of those laps so I’m excited for the next challenge.”

Saturday’s event finale rained out.

Crouch is scheduled to make his debut at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Ill., on Friday and at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., on Saturday with the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series.

“I’m super excited for Wayne County,” he said. “It’s a micro track and I know how those tracks usually adjust to midgets. Tri-State looks like it will be really fun and racy as well.”
