Belleville, IL. (09/28/2020) Possibly saving the best event of the year for last, the POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprints would visit their home-racing grounds of I-35 Speedway, in Winston Missouri, to wrap up their 2020 racing season on Saturday. September 25th. After a full field of twenty of the top lightning sprinters racing for nearly every position, Minnesota’s Alan Truscinski would emerge victorious after making a near eight-hour journey to compete.
Helping pack the pits would see seven POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints drivers make the long trek from the north to support their Lightning Sprint brethren of the Midwest setting the stage for a one-of-a-kind premier POWRi League battle. After three exciting heat races, the POWRi MKLS would head into intermission with a 2-1 advantage over POWRi MLS as Alan Truscinski(MKLS), Cody Swenson(MKLS), and Kenny Bowers(MLS) all earned victories in early competitions the stage was set for the twenty-lap main event.
Shaking up the field with an invert based on heat race passing points acquired, #22x Wade Haugeberg and #18 Stanley Kreisel would bring the pack to feature racing for the initial launch. POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprint point-leader Kreisel would earn the early lead with Chase Fischer #22 in hot pursuit for the primary positioning. Early caution flags would keep the running close and competitive with many drivers finding several grooves worthy of running.
Starting from fifth, Alan Truscinski #13t would find the speedy three-eighths-mile oval of I-35 Speedway to his preference by grabbing the lead as the midway point approached on the track. Emma Martin #99 would prove the be back in her top-contending form staying in the hunt for first all event. Battling through the field from originally eleventh, Alex Truscinski #10x would make it a family reunion at the lead of the pack as he joined his father up-front.
As the checkers waived Alan Truscinski would continue his streak of claiming the final feature event in two separate POWRi Lightning Sprint Leagues this year, now winning both Minn-Kota and Midwest. The younger Truscinski would hold steady finishing second as Martin rounded out the podium in an electrifying event. Outstanding wheelman #11 Brandon Smith continues his consistent ways with a solid fourth as Jeff Bard #01 would earn the hard charger by gaining eleven positions from sixteenth to finish fifth.
