Belleville, IL. (09/21/2020) Back in fine racing form at the POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprints home track of I-35 Speedway, in Winston Missouri. MLS would find the track on the trickier side in the penultimate event of the 2020 season, with fast laps times and tough running lane to tame cautions would plague the feature event early giving way to great side-by-side action in the later stages. Stanley Kreisel would flex his driving might winning the night and stretching his points lead heading into the final race.
Starting from an outside front-row placement, Stanley Kreisel #18 would earn his POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprint series season leading eighth victory while racing at I-35 Speedway on Saturday, grabbing the lead early Kreisel was able to avoid the early on-track mishaps and cruise to victory. Brandon Smith #11 would start on the inside of row two and keep pace with the leader, running a clean race to place second with #01 Jeff Bard rounding out the podium finishers.
Quickly learning the ropes of the open-wheel world, rookie MLS competitor Jeffrey Sears #13J continues to impress with patience and ability by notching a fourth-place finish from starting eleventh. Moving through the field in feature racing as well, Dave Hammons #00 would race from starting twelfth to placing fifth.
Next on the season agenda for the POWRi Lucas Oil Midwest Lightning Sprints is the season finale on Saturday, September 26th with a return trip to the series home racing surfaces of I-35 Speedway. Revisiting the familiar dirt-banks of Winston Missouri for the last season points race for competitors vying for a championship banner. Pit Gates open at 4 PM with Drivers Registration from 4-6 PM. Hot Laps begin at 6:30 PM as great racing action follows.
