Tight Points Battle for POWRi Minn-Kota Entering Season-Ending Weekend

Belleville, IL. (09/14/2020) Heading into the final weekend of racing for the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints, seasonal racing has been heated and continually close, making for an interesting push for supremacy in the standings.

So far in 2020 with the POWRi MKLS, Dexter Dvergsten has had the heaviest foot accumulating seven feature victories and an overall point lead of sixteen points. Hot on the heels of the point-leader Dvergsten; Alan Truscinski remains steady with consistency by continually racking up top-five performances.

Keeping pace with the top-two season front-runners, Kelsi Pederson remains merely eighteen points back from the leader while also claiming five feature victories. Tying the most feature wins on the series’ season with seven, Alex Truscinski holds the fourth place in points back sixty-eight from first. With a late-season surge Jason Berg, now ninety points behind the leader, rounds out the top-five in season standings going into the last weekend of racing for the MKLS in 2020.

First up on Friday, September 18th River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota will try to contain these speedy lightning sprints with the entire season championship coming to a head over the weekend of racing to determine who will emerge as the 2020 champion of the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints.

River Cities Speedway, in Grand Forks, ND, pit-gates will open at 3 PM with drivers registration scheduled from 4-6 PM. Hot Laps begin at 6:30 PM with great racing action to follow on the three-tenths-mile bullring.

Wrapping up the 2020 POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint racing season with a bang, the lightning sprints will support the Pure Stock Nationals this Saturday, September 19th at Devil’s Lake Speedway in Crary, ND. Pit-Gates open at 4 PM with racing action starting at 7 PM for this outstanding event.

Changing things up for the season finale, Lightning Sprints will run the first heat according to pill draw as usual, but now a second heat will be ran inverting the field. The feature lineup will be based according to overall passing points, high point qualifier from both heats will start on the pole.
