Wentworth , NH . On a beautiful Saturday night at the RumTown Speedway it was double features for Sprint Cars of New England. ( Presented by _________ ) (your business or someone you know should fill in the blank) . The first feature was a make up twenty five lap race that was lined up coming to the green flag when the rains hit on July third. Their was a short car count that night due to some teams having mechanical issues the night before . So we had four cars in the pit area that were not there and they were able to pill draw for positions to start after the qualified cars. It was Floyd Billington and Chris Donnelly making up the front row and bringing the field to green. They were side by side as Donnelly got the lead in turn two. On lap three Will Hull got by Billington for second. By lap eight Jake Williams moved by Billiington as well. At the half way marker Williams got by Hull and started to gain on Donnelly. lap nineteen just as Donnelly was coming off turn two Tyler Austin was slowing and pulling in the infield. Donnelly just touched the car of Austin but continued on. On lap twenty two Travis Billington running fifth was slow in turn two and the caution flag flew. On the restart Donnelly held his lead on the green , white , checkered to win his first feature race at RumTown this season. Second was Jake Williams, Will Hull third and Scott Holcomb, Floyd Billington fourth and fifth. Six through ten were Mike Horsch, Jim Lowery, Caleb Lamson, Rick Stone, and Wade Prentice. After victory lane the teams got ready for the regular race night program.
The FK Rod Ends Heat Race #1 saw Will Hull and Jake Williams start them going into turn one, Chris Donnelly from fifth was second by turn two with a bottom shot. Hull took the victory in the eight lap race followed by Donnelly, Williams, Rick Stone, Caleb Lamson, Jim Lowery, and Tyler Austin. Austin was making his first races back this season driving the eight car owned by Bruce Clattenburg. The O'Reily Auto Parts Heat race #2 was next with Travis Billington and Mike Horsch leading them to green. Billington jumped out front as they went into turn four Horsch got into Scott Holcomb and nearly caused a pile of sprint cars, good thing Holcomb has good driving skills. At the finish it was Travis Billington, Scott Holcomb, Mike Horsch, Clay Dow , Floyd Billington, and Wade Prentice. After the invert the field was set Rick Stone and Clay Dow would be the front row and bring them down for the green flag. On lap three Tyler Austin got a little out of shape and got hit by Wade Prentice who would pull in the infield with a damaged top wing. On the restart Dow would be leading followed by Jake Williams and Rick Stone a few laps later Stone would pull up to the high side and let the cars go by with an issue two laps later Stone would pull in the infield. Dow was still in command Williams was getting closer but not close enough as Clay Dow would take his second feature race win of the season at RumTown Speedway. Rounding out the top five were Jake Williams , Scott Holcomb , Will Hull , Floyd Billington > Six through ten were Chris Donnelly , Travis Billington , Tyler Austin , Caleb Lamson , and Mike Horsch. A very good night with just one car with minor damage, which helps us keep a decent car count going into the last four races of the season. Thank you to all teams for making this series run stronger each week. Hope to see many race fans as we close out our 2020 season .
