Bacon Takes USAC Sprint Car Points Lead into Weekend Double

Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (September 9, 2020) – A USAC Sprint Car weekend doubleheader awaits Brady Bacon and the Fatheadz Eyewear No. 69 Sprint Car team.

And seeking a third career series championship, “The Macho Man” takes the series points lead into the weekend that includes events at Bloomington Speedway on Friday night and then Putnamville’s Lincoln Park Speedway on Saturday night.

Bacon propelled himself to the top of the point charts with three top-five finishes in as many nights during the recent Kokomo Sprint Car Smackdown.
Friday marks Bacon’s first visit to Bloomington this season after the Sprintweek card fell victim to inclement weather.

Bacon picked up one of his ten wins on the season at Putnamville with a USAC Sprint Car score on July 4. Saturday card will feature twin features with the completion of the Sprintweek card that was suspended by rain. Bacon won his heat race on that night and will start among the top ten in the makeup feature along with another full slate again.

Bacon comes off a weekend of double-duty at Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway that netted his tenth overall feature win of the 2020 campaign.

Bacon picked up the WAR Non-Wing Sprint Car feature win on Saturday night aboard the Longworth Equipment No. 410 entry and looked to be a lock to win the Sunday feature only to be derailed by a faulty fuel pump.

Bacon also broke out the Fatheadz Eyewear No. 69 winged 360-ci Sprint Car for the first time since Knoxville’s 360 Nationals and posted strong finishes of sixth in the Saturday night prelim and then a podium finish of third in Sunday night’s LOS 360 Nationals finale.

All the while, Bacon was also crowned the 2020 Kokomo Speedway Sprint Car champion.

Bacon looks to move one step closer to another championship this weekend with the USAC Sprint Car title in his sights.
