Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Aug. 31, 2020) – Kerry Madsen posted a pair of top-10 results during World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competition in the Midwest last weekend.

The Killer Instinct Crossbows sponsored Big Game Motorsports driver placed seventh at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., on Saturday and eighth on Sunday at I-80 Speedway. Madsen now has 15 top 10s, including four in a row, with the series this season. That ranks ninth overall.

The action began with Madsen qualifying second quickest on Saturday at U.S. 36 Raceway. A runner-up result in a heat race locked him into the dash.

“We drew the No. 5 for the dash and got the front wing knocked off on Lap 1 so we finished sixth,” he said. “We started sixth in the feature and dropped back a little. We came on strong toward the end and got up to fifth before finishing seventh. Back where I was it was pretty elbows up. It was tight so if you screwed up you’d lose a lot of spots. I was pushing pretty hard on the top. We had a pretty good race car and it was a shame we dropped back to seventh. That’s Outlaw racing. You try to gain a spot and end up losing a spot.”

Sunday played out in a similar fashion at I-80 Speedway, where Madsen qualified fourth quickest overall and won a heat race.

“We qualified well and won the heat,” he said. “We drew the No. 6 in the dash and ended up seventh, which was a bummer because we got stuck on the bottom on the start of the feature. A couple of double-file restarts we were on the inside, too, and would lose spots. If we had a better start and restart we were a top-five car.”

Madsen’s eighth-place run was his 27th top 10 of the season.

He returns to Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., this Saturday and Sunday with the Outlaws. Madsen placed third at the track earlier this month.

“If you can qualify well it sets up the whole night,” he said. “I see the track being very similar, which is good. Hopefully it translates into a good weekend for us.”
