Inside Line Promotions – GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (Aug. 27, 2020) – Brian Brown wrapped up his fifth career track championship and fourth in the 410ci sprint car division at Knoxville Raceway this week.

The half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, recently announced the cancellation of the remainder of the 2020 season, officially crowning Brown with his second straight track title.

“It’s always good to be a champion no matter what you do in life,” he said. “We hadn’t planned on running for a championship. With everything that happened with COVID-19 and the make-up races, it forced our hand a little to run as many as we could there. It just worked out for us. We had a solid year. We won some races there and felt like we were in contention every time.

“We have to get better when the money is on the line I feel like. Even though we run around there pretty good there’s a lot more left that we can be better in different situations. We’ll work hard to try to find some things and then put them to use next year when we get to Knoxville.”

UP NEXT – Saturday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., and Sunday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series

“It’s been four or five years since the last time I was at U.S. 36 Raceway,” Brown said. “It’s not historically been my best track. We’re going in there with a good attitude that someone is going to win $10,000 and someone will finish second, third, fourth. Why not us?

“I-80 is a place we’ve had a lot of success with the 360 over the years. We’ve won a lot of races there. I think the last time the Outlaws were there we finished in the top five. The main thing is we’ve had some issues getting qualified (this season). That has been the Achilles Heel, getting buried behind the eight ball. We’re trying to unload something that is at the top of the board or at least close to the top of the board in qualifying.”

SEASON STATS –

40 races, 5 wins, 13 top fives, 22 top 10s, 28 top 15s, 31 top 20s
