Bacon is Smackdown Ready after Sweeping Candyman Classic Double Features

Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (August 27, 2020) – Brady Bacon steps back into the familiar Hoffman Racing Fatheadz Eyewear No. 69 Sprint Car for three nights of racing action this weekend as the USAC National Sprint Car series resumes with the “Kokomo Sprint Car Smackdown”.

The three-day blockbuster events gets under way with full preliminary programs on both Thursday and Friday that set the stage for Saturday’s “Smackdown” finale.

“This is one we always look forward to,” Bacon says. “We have always run well at it, it seems like a lot of thirds and fourths and just a lot of top fives. Now it’s time to go and get a win.”

Bacon goes into the three-day set after sweeping last Friday night’s “Candyman Classic” double features at Gas City I-69 Speedway aboard the Longworth No 410 Sprint Car.

After racing from fourth to win his heat race, “The Macho Man” needed just three laps to race into the lead from the fourth starting position in the first “A” Main and then rallied from tenth to take command 13 laps into the second “A” Main en route to checking out on the field to complete the sweep of feature events.

With a posted winner’s share of $2,020 for each feature along with bonuses, Bacon cashed in $4,940 for the night’s work.

Bacon rounded out last weekend by timing in fourth quickest aboard the Klatt Enterprises No. 6 USAC Silver Crown entry at Sunday’s “Hoosier Hundred” atop the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds mile oval only to get collected in an early-race melee that brought an early end to the day.

This weekend’s “Smackdown” action marks the first USAC competition since Indiana Sprintweek wrapped up on August 2.

Bacon enters the weekend sitting fourth in points, less than 100 markers out of the lead. It’s a position he looks to improve upon.
