Inside Line Promotions – COLUMBIA, Mo. (Aug. 19, 2020) – A weekend off can sometimes be just what a driver needs.
Garet Williamson wasn’t burned out or stressed out, but a hole in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule allowed the series rookie to get cars ready and take some time to relax last weekend.
Williamson is ready to race now and he will get plenty of track time this weekend. The Bryant Paver Motorsports driver is scheduled to race in Kansas at Humboldt Speedway on Friday before heading to Missouri for shows at Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday and Randolph County Raceway on Sunday.
“We worked on race cars and got them ready, and on Sunday, we had a lake day,” Williamson said. “It was a nice, relaxing week off. I wanted to be at ASCS Sprint Week, but every once in a while a nice weekend off isn’t bad.
“I’m super stoked. I’m ready to go racing this week more than I have been in a while. It will be nice to go run three nights this week and see what we can do.”
Williamson didn’t make any changes with his equipment during the off week. There was no need with the speed the Bryant Paver Motorsports team has had this year. The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour is off again this week so Williamson put together a three-race weekend to continue to build on that speed and gain confidence.
“Everywhere we’ve been this year we’ve had pretty good speed,” he said. “So we don’t really want to get far away from what we’ve been doing until we find something that is going to really help.
“I’m really looking forward to going to Randolph County Raceway. We had a lot of speed there earlier this year and it kind of fits my driving style. It’s a pretty big place and wide, so you can do a lot of things. It’s also a hometown crowd and it will be cool to race in front of them.”
