After a weekend off, Matt and the OE&M, Covington Motorsports Team returned to the track for some ASCS Lone Star action at Devils Bowl Speedway.
After a quick shake down in hot laps, Matt would take the lead early in the heat race and go on to take the checkers with over a straightaway lead.
Matt would draw pill number 3 for the feature in the re-draw and would have to work hard to get going and to the top, because the top of the race track was the fastest way around. At the drop of the green after a couple cautions and one red flag, Matt would settle in 4th place. Matt was able to slip into 3rd early and work toward making a run on Travis Rilat for the 2nd position. As the half-way point of the race approached Matt was able to throw a slider and secure the 2nd position and set his sights on the leader of Danny Wood. Matt would work hard to catch Danny and even pull alongside him in the thick of lap traffic. But in the end Matt would fall few laps short and have to settle for 2nd and runner-up honors for the night. Not the win the team was hoping for but was a strong podium finish which helped Matt open up and extend his ASCS Lone-Star points lead.
